PRESSURE

Lately I’ve started a series of posts called ‘Today and Atlas Shrugged’ in which I compare the running theme of a book written in 1957, when I was in ‘elementary school’ learning the ‘3 R’s’ (Reading, wRiting, & aRithmetic) and reading about the launch of the first manmade satellite, the ‘Sputnik-1’ in my scholastic ‘Weekly Reader’… Who am I kidding? I was playing marbles and learning to add, subtract, and count to 1000!
The point is Ayn Rand, the author with THE most mispronounced first name, (should be spoken as a rhyme of ‘nine’), had immigrated to the USA from Russia. When she was just 12 her father’s business was confiscated by the Communist Party of the time, under control of the infamous ‘Vladimir Lenin’ in the ‘Great October Socialist Revolution.’
After graduating from high school in the midst of the Russian Revolution (1921) they moved to Petrograd (now called Saint Petersburg) and fought off starvation! When she finally immigrated to America, she already saw our path was leaning towards that of communist Russia of which she had just fled!
Today an amazing number of students prefer Socialism to Capitalism! Some polls show Gen-Z students are just about 50-50 on preference to Socialism versus Capitalism! The Gen-Xers are holding in favor of Capitalism by 61% and my, my, my, my gennnn-er-aaaa-tion! Baby boomers are 68% for, and 32% against Capitalism! Some of us hippies just never grew out of it, I guess?
But as any system can be played or corrupted, Capitalism has been unjustly stretched and sometimes abused by financial influence, oh hell, call it what it is, by bribery! What other job can pay a couple of hundred thou and guarantee you come out the other side in a few years a multi-Millionaire?
Fact: 1% of Americans are Millionaires. 50% of Congress is! Companies that have a lot to gain (or lose) find sneaky ways to grease the palms of those D.C. regulators/lawmakers. That should be clearly held in check and has NOT been.
Capitalism is not the problem. Billionaire oligarchs that are convinced it is THEIR job to teach us the correct way to live and if you refuse, find ways to punish us into submission, is the problem.
If the courts, (and I wonder how many palms got greased in that circle?), were doing their job, Capitalism would be just fine. Any time there is a complete takeover of a staple industry (and in my estimation we have at least three presently) it leaves the door wide open for a maniacal oligarch to come barreling through!
It's not the size of the business, but the controllers of our country’s staples becoming more powerful than our government! That is a good recipe for a dictator to sprout forward!
Capitalism is like a pressure-cooker. Some great meals can come from the correct amount of pressure being applied, but without that little pressure release valve, the whole thing could blow up, ending our relatively free democratic republic.
This is where I see Ayn Rand’s novel helpful. It graphically displays over and over, how what started as ‘good intention’ can be misused to garner power and go very wrong.
We see that with the ‘off with their heads’, we’ll try them later Queen of Hearts methodology of Nancy Pelosi, the spiteful pen of Joe Biden killing international contracts (both south and north) with his narrow-minded executive orders, not presenting these to Congress but forcing these changes, on his will alone.
And most worrying is the sheer control a few Billionaire oligarchs have on our nation's primary ways of communication. They literally have shaped elections. If you don't think so see if this analogy fits. What if in 1960 the primary form of communication the phone company allowed every blue party supporter to complete their calls, but refused all or most strong arguments FOR the red party to have a connection?
Some think that since there are other methods of communication, this worry is not valid. But just as Supreme Court Justices have espoused their highly flawed opinion that unless the wrongdoing rises to the level that it could have changed the election outcome, it is not worthy of a ruling, those many hundreds of small infractions during the election each had no impact on the winner, but collectively, (which they were never allowed to do), they absolutely would have made a critical difference.
The jury is still out as to how strictly legal Zuckerbucks four-hundred-Million ($400,000,000.) influence has been, but about half of the country has way more questions than answers. It is time for some of that, PRESSURE to be released... or America explodes.
Respectful comments are always welcome.
I was the Production Director. I edited (spliced with a razor blade and tape) reel to reel audio tape and made magic, (commercials and contest promos). To maintain my energy I brought a gallon of orange juice into the studio every day and it was gone five hours later when my show was over. Funny, I don't recall ever getting the Flu when I was there.. 🙄😎
The reason there's only the parts where I talk and not the whole song is because the boss, (the Program Director) required us to record 'skimmer tapes' that only run when our mic is open, so he could yell at us for anything he thought was wrong. LOL
