Desire to promote free speech and public discourse. You have the right to say it, and I have the right to comment. This is the backbone of American freedom. We can always learn if we keep our minds open.

The largest threat to our Democratic Republic today is the muzzling of free speech.

Is America Karen?

a ®eMark from eMark ™

When you trace our short history you will see that we went from hardly anyone being able to write, then the educated wrote cursively, (today's generation doesn't even know what cursive is!)

That was changed to print, to typewriters, (it could be argued that today's generation doesn't know what those are either), to keyboards, to texting, to smart phones, to speech. Just over the horizon is input through just brain waves, seriously!

I believe that we are in a slow spiraling decline of lucidity. Today, in large part, thanks to the forms of media people use to communicate, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, (and maybe a few hundred other platforms), we are heavily driven by very short text messages.

This haz led too widespred use uv grossly mispelled wurds, trunkated vershuns, & an abuntance of adaption 2 whut tha words m3an. 🤔

The world dictionaries literally change yearly now altering definitions of words because the masses have begun to use them in different parlances.

In 2020 alone the simple name Karen has become an albatross to females across the country. I predict no one will name their child Karen born in the year 2020! All because of social media.

Someone found a woman who unfortunately was named Karen, verbally abusing another lady, and the Don't be a 'Karen' Memes exploded on Twitter and Facebook among many other social media platforms.

The meaning has grown to the intensity that just recently, in a heated debate on a forum I, (a male) was called a Karen! If the new Merriam-Webster dictionary definition is honest the 2020 definition of Karen will be:

A name originally meant to be a woman unjustly verbally abusing another, (original case the abusee was a woman of color), but has quickly morphed into: Anyone (of any gender), offering an unwanted opposing view.

But the much bigger problem is that definitions are flexible and can be changed by the masses anytime they want to by simply applying clever adaptations into the social media platforms.

Another that merits a new position in the Merriam-Webster, as of the year 2020 would be 'peaceful protest'. It used to mean gathering together for a cause, harming no one, and voicing opinions.

Today the new definition is: The gathering together of people opposing a view or belief that allows for burning of property, personal, small business and government, and harming anyone who opposes the gatherings view.

The most disturbing part of this is we are literally allowing words to mean their diametric opposites! In the last few days of 2020 the woman two heart beats away from the presidency of the United States declared that conservatives were violent.

True, Billy Bob may have hit someone with a tire iron in Broken Neck, West Virginia, but realistically Nancy Pelosi, you honestly believe that the liberals have not shown more violence this year than conservatives?

We have gone from shortened versions of words, to widely accepted misspellings of words, to redefined meanings of words, which is taking us in a spiraling downward direction, away from lucidity. And with social media's help the masses are not noticing.

If you try to go on to those social media platforms and plead the case, your blogs, videos, comments are hidden from public view, and those new diametrically opposed versions are augmented.

Simple math says if 500 people see what you wrote and 10 million see what they wrote, guess where the opinion swings? Oh eMark, don't be such a Karen!

I have lots more to say on this topic, in another blog.

'nuff said, (4now) :-o

Are you a 'Reluctant Republican'?
This is my first podcast. I plan to do many more. This was 43 years ago today..

I was the Production Director. I edited (spliced with a razor blade and tape) reel to reel audio tape and made magic, (commercials and contest promos). To maintain my energy I brought a gallon of orange juice into the studio every day and it was gone five hours later when my show was over. Funny, I don't recall ever getting the Flu when I was there.. 🙄😎

The reason there's only the parts where I talk and not the whole song is because the boss, (the Program Director) required us to record 'skimmer tapes' that only run when our mic is open, so he could yell at us for anything he thought was wrong. LOL
